Old Down Manor

Old Down Manor is in a beautiful setting, you arrive along a tree lined avenue to discover stunning views of the Black Mountains across the Severn Estuary. Sitting in over 50 acres of age old woodland, grazing land and glorious formal gardens.

Bristol

Less than 4 miles from the M5 motorway, 3.5 miles from the Market town of Thornbury and only 14 miles from the centre of Bristol. Old Down is a magnificent Victorian Gothic Manor House, in the last few years it has undergone a stunning restoration. Maintaining its original walls and feel, it is now every bit the modern venue.

This really is a fabulous wedding venue, in a picturesque setting. The perfect place to create you own special memories that you will treasure forever.

A brief history of Old Down Manor

Originally constructed in 1856 two years after the opening of the Clifton Suspension Bridge in nearby Bristol, it was originally known as Fern Park. It was bought in 1881 by the resident of Berkeley Castle, William Hartford a well known city banker. Over a period of years the house lay empty and in ruin. Rebuilt in 1971 the house was developed as a local tourist attraction, it stayed as such until in 2004 it was owned by rock musician and composer Mike Oldfield. Oldfield was the man behind the massive hit Tubular Bells, which  became the launch vehicle for Virgin records, thus making it the first big success in the industry for a gentleman called Richard Branson.

Mike Oldfield sold the property in 2007 to the current owner.
